Donald J. MacDougall, D.V.M. - Owner, Veterinarian, Chief Surgeon, Medical Director, started off as an employee here from 1986 to 1988. In 1988, Dr. MacDougall purchased the Los Lunas Animal Clinic. Before he came to New Mexico, he spent 2 years at a mixed animal practice in Rapid City, South Dakota. Dr. MacDougall has an AA in Medical Science, BS in Veterinary Science with a minor in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University, then graduated in 1983 from Colorado State Univeristy College of Veterinary Medicine. With his many talents, attention to detail, and diligence, Dr. MacDougall contributes his knowledge and expertise, as the veterinarian for the Wildlife West Nature Park in Edgewood, New Mexico, and is also the founder an part owner of Pet ER Inc. in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Born in Denver, raised in Colorado and Arizona, Dr. MacDougall has lived in Wyoming and South Dakota before making his home in Los Lunas, New Mexico. He has an amazing and supportive wife Kay Rivers who is a graphic designer, and has a beautiful daughter, Arriana M. MacDougall, born April 2006. One of Dr. MacDougall's favorite past-times is Cowboy Mounted Shooting. He is the 2 time SASS World Champion! William C. Thompson III, D.V.M
Ph.D - Veterinarian and Chief of Staff obtained his D.V.M. from
Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, Grafton, Massachusetts. He
obtained his Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Thompson, grew up in New Mexico and brings with him considerable experience
in equine medicine and surgery and special training in small animal orthopedic
surgery. His interests include working with small ruminants such as goats,
sheep, alpacas and llamas and avian medicine in addition to full services for
our canine and feline clients. Dr. Noah L. Heninger, Ph.D - A recent graduate from Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. He is a New Mexico native and graduate of Belen High School, earned his B.S. in Animal Science from New Mexico State University. Dr. Heninger earned his M.S. degree in equine reproductive physiology with a special emphasis in aggressive behavior in stallions from Texas Tech. Then Dr. Heninger earned a Ph.D in reproductive physiology from Texas A & M University. While at Texas A & M, Dr. Heninger focused on mechanisms for sperm production in stallions. This research attempts to explain why some stallions can become subfertile, producing low numbers of sperm. Finally, at Ontario Veterinary College, Dr. Heninger furthered his expertise in animal husbandry. Dr. Heninger's expertise will extend the equine breeding program at Los Lunas Animal Clinic to include: embryo transfer, deep uterine insemination, semen collection, cooling/ shipping/ freezing, and superovulation. |
